WM News & North West Press Enhance PrePress Capabilities
The well renowned newspaper and commercial print entities, Wimmera Mallee News and North West Press, have recently taken a significant step forward in their prepress capabilities with the installation of the advanced Cron TP3632H CTP (Computer-to-Plate) system. This upgrade, facilitated by AGS (Australian Graphic Servicing), marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of these publications, promising improved print quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
The Cron TP3632H CTP is designed to streamline the prepress process by imaging plates with remarkable accuracy and efficiency. This results in consistently sharp images and text, which is crucial for maintaining the high standards of print quality that Wimmera Mallee News and North West Press customers have come to expect.
Andrew Ward (left), third-generation owner and current Director of Wimmera Mallee News and the Warracknabeal Herald, expressed his enthusiasm about the new installation: “This new CTP system is a game-changer for us. The ability to switch between a lower dpi for our daily newsprint and up to a higher dpi for special projects allows us to maintain high quality while being versatile. The improved efficiency and print quality mean we can serve our community better, which is increasingly important in our constantly evolving industry. We are grateful to AGS for their seamless installation and ongoing support.”
One of the primary advantages of the new CTP system is the option to spec up to 2540 dpi. The Cron TP3632H is equipped with a state-of-the-art laser imaging system that ensures every detail is captured with precision.
The flexibility offered by the Cron TP3632H CTP system allows the newspapers to diversify their printing capabilities. For standard newsprint, the system can operate at a lower dpi setting, which is sufficient for high-quality text and images while maintaining efficient production speeds. However, for special editions or high-demand jobs requiring superior quality, the system can be switched up to a higher resolution. This adaptability makes it easier to cater to various printing needs, from daily newspapers to premium print products.
The Cron TP3632H CTP system is also noted for its environmentally friendly attributes. The direct-to-plate technology reduces the need for chemical processing, which in turn lowers the environmental impact. Additionally, the system’s high precision minimizes waste, making the printing process more cost-effective over time.
“We are thrilled to support the Ward family business with this significant upgrade,” said Andrew Dunn, Sales & BDM at AGS. “The Cron TP3632H system is a top-of-the-line solution that will undoubtedly enhance their printing capabilities and operational efficiency. Assisting our customers to diversify and strengthen their business with key investments such as this one is incredibly rewarding. It’s impressive to see how they are leveraging this technology to offer both high-quality standard prints and premium products, adapting swiftly to the varying demands of their market.”
With this technological advancement, the Ward family are positioning themselves to not only preserve the rich tradition of print journalism but also embrace the diverse future with confidence and innovation.
